Billie Lourd honors late mother Carrie Fisher in Leia gown at Stroll of Fame occasion

Late “Star Wars” legend Carrie Fisher was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Stroll of Fame Thursday on Could 4 — often known as Star Wars Day — and her daughter, Billie Lourd, picked a becoming search for the event.
The “Booksmart” star, 30, appeared pretty in a maxi gown printed with an enormous picture of Princess Leia, her mom’s iconic character from the George Lucas movie franchise.
Even her black starry manicure was a nod to a galaxy far, far-off; certainly one of her middle-finger nails was painted with Princess Leia’s likeness, whereas one other featured the image for the Insurgent Alliance.
Lourd’s sequined robe was probably the work of Rodarte, the LA-based label designed by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, which confirmed a set of robes screened with pictures of Luke Skywalker, Yoda, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Yoda as a part of its fall 2014 assortment.



Whereas a Leia-inspired design wasn’t included within the unique lineup, it will seem Fisher — who died in December 2016 at age 60 following a coronary heart assault — willed the creation into existence.
In a 2014 Harper’s Bazaar piece, Fisher instructed the design duo, “I wish to see a gown with Leia on it.”
Responded Laura Mulleavy on the time, “It’s solely going to be half the gown, physique solely, as a result of your face must be on prime.”


Rodarte’s performed a big position in Lourd’s life in different methods as effectively; the Mulleavys (each lifelong “Star Wars” followers) designed the “Scream Queens” star’s duo of wedding ceremony clothes when she married husband Austen Rydell in 2022.
Lourd later instructed Vogue she found and “instantly fell in love” with Rodarte after the aforementioned Bazaar interview between the Mulleavys and her mom.
The bride honored Fisher by carrying her hair in intricate braids on her large day.

Whereas accepting Fisher’s posthumous honor Thursday, Lourd recalled the expertise of watching “Star Wars” for the primary time in center college after “boys began coming as much as me and telling me they ‘fantasized’ about my mother.”
“I wished to hate it so I might inform her how lame she was. Like all child, I didn’t need my mother to be sizzling or cool — she was my mother,” Lourd mentioned.
“However that day, staring on the display screen, I spotted nobody is or will ever be as sizzling or as cool as Princess Leia.”
